What is in this Sudoku

This classic 9-by-9 Sudoku starts with 42 given digits and 39 empty cells. The puzzle is on page 1; the complete solution is on page 2. It uses numbers 1 through 9, not arithmetic sums.

A starting strategy for this grid

The first row already contains six digits, leaving three gaps. List its missing digits, then check each gap against its column and 3-by-3 box before writing.

Use small candidate notes and eliminate a digit whenever it appears in the same row, column or box. The Easy label is the library category, not a guaranteed solving time.

Check your finished grid

Each row, column and 3-by-3 box must contain 1-9 once. Keep the answer page separate until you want to check. This set has one solution in a computational check; that does not imply a human playtest.
